A space and medium dedicated to post-Internet cultures.

Since its opening in 2011, La Gaîté Lyrique is both a space and a medium, a living space centred around research, creation, experimentation and sharing, a space open to all audiences. As witnesses of our hyper-connected era, our focus is on post-Internet cultures: these emerging artistic practices, born on or transformed by the Internet, sit at the intersection between art, new technologies and societal issues. They are rampant, resolutely popular, often festive, sometimes marginalized. [1]

In a time when the use of innovative digital tools leads to the multiplication and hybridization of musical styles, La Gaîté Lyrique explores the rich field of contemporary music, its primary area of interest. But it also celebrates the dance movements that are born and shared online, the podcasts and video games that transform the way we tell stories, the virtual reality tools that renew our perception of the world, the design narratives that help imagine the future, the creative models born from blockchain, and all the art forms that shape the world of tomorrow.[1]

Via a multidisciplinary programme –packed with concerts, exhibitions, talks, performances and workshops– that favours immersion, experimentation, narration, collective experience, entertainment and engagement, La Gaîté Lyrique’s mission is to welcome the artists who are making their mark on society and to support each and every citizen in their discovery and understanding of post-Internet cultures. [1]

The Link Art Center is a curatorial platform promoting contemporary artistic research and critical reflections on the core issues of the information age: it organizes events, publishes books, collaborates and networks with individuals, groups, companies, institutions on a local and international level.[1]

Founded on March 9, 2011 as “Link Center for the Arts of Information Age” by Fabio Paris, Lucio Chiappa and Domenico Quaranta, joined by Matteo Cremonesi in 2014, the Link Art Center acted as a curatorial platform focused on the promotion of contemporary artistic research and critical reflections on the core issues of the information age, through the organization of events, editorial activity, collaboration and networking with individuals, groups, companies and institutions on a local and international level.[2]

Link Cabinet was a single web page hosting solo shows where artists exhibited a single, site-specific artwork. A project by Matteo Cremonesi for the Link Art Center (2014 - 2019) [3]

A publishing initiative of the Link Art Center, Link Editions uses the print on demand (POD) approach, which allows to reduce production costs and environmental impact of publishing to the minimum, and to circulate editorial products online. Edited by Domenico Quaranta, from 2011 to 2018 Link Editions published fifty books.[1]

Link Editions is a publishing initiative of the LINK Center for the Arts of the Information Age. LINK Editions uses the print on demand approach to create an accessible, dynamic series of essays, pamphlets, catalogues and artist books. A keen advocate of the idea that information wants to be free, Link Editions releases its contents free of charge in .pdf format, and on paper at a price accessible to all. Link Editions is a not-for-profit initiative and all its contents are circulated under a Creative Commons license.[4]

The UCLA Department of Design Media Arts (DMA) offers a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to media creation that fosters individual exploration and innovative thinking. Our internationally renowned faculty provides each student with a creative and intellectual foundation for constructing a unique contribution to culture. DMA is committed to educating conscientious creators by emphasizing production within the context of history and theory. The core curriculum is augmented by series of vital lectures, workshops, and other events, and we actively encourage our students to pursue additional interests within the university.[1]

Within the context of the department, design is a process and way of thinking, and media arts foreground experimental media creation. We synthesize practice, history, and theory and hybridize technologies, discourses, and audiences. The results emerge in and on books, galleries, game consoles, installations, films, magazines, performances, public spaces, televisions, and websites. We strive to create socially and culturally relevant objects, experiences, and spaces.[1]

The Center for Digital Arts and Experimental Media, or DXARTS, is a program offering PhD studies in new media art at the University of Washington. The goal of doctoral education in Digital Arts and Experimental Media is to create opportunities for artists to discover and document new knowledge and expertise at the most advanced levels higher education can offer. While creating new art is at the center of all activities in the program, the DXARTS PhD is a research-oriented degree requiring a substantial commitment to graduate-level study and reflection. The Ph.D. degree prepares artists to pursue original creative and technical research in Digital Arts and Experimental Media and pioneer lasting innovations on which future artists and scholars can build.[1]

DXARTS fosters the invention of new forms of digital and experimental arts by synthesizing expanded studio research with pioneering advances in digital computing, information technologies, performance, science, and engineering. Embracing an expansive range of arts practice, theory, and research across multiple disciplines, DXARTS creates opportunities for artists to discover and document new knowledge and expertise in an evolving field of media arts.[2]
