InterAccess is a Canadian artist-run centre and electronic media production facility in Toronto. Founded in 1982 as Toronto Community Videotex, InterAccess is Ontario's only exhibition space devoted exclusively to technological media arts. The Centre for Contemporary Canadian Art places the founding of InterAccess as a key moment in both the history of Canadian electronic art but also within a timeline of developments in international art, science, technology and culture. [1]

InterAccess’s mission is to expand the cultural significance of art and technology by fostering and supporting the full cycle of art and artistic practice through education, production, and exhibition.

We envision an environment in which:

  • Art that engages technology gains widespread cultural resonance;
  • Critical discourse dedicated to everyday and emerging technologies is catalyzed by artists, curators, and cultural workers;
  • The full life cycle of art and artists is nurtured.

Annually we execute multiple exhibitions, a full curriculum of skill-building and critical theory workshops, and a broad range of discursive events that explore the impact of technology on the social, political and cultural aspects of contemporary life. Our studio space facilitates the circulation of skills and techniques required to produce the work we exhibit in our gallery space. [2]

ISEA International is a not for profit organisation constituted in the Netherlands. It is managed by a voluntary board who oversee the activities of ISEA International.

The main activity of ISEA International is the International Symposium on Electronic Art (ISEA), an annual gathering of the international art, science and technology community. The symposium includes an academic conference, exhibitions, performances and workshops. It is a nomadic event and is held in a different location every year. [1]

Historically the symposia were held as both a biennial and annual event. As of 2009, the symposium has been held annually again. Nowadays, ISEA is one of the most prominent international events on art and technology around the world, bringing together scholarly, artistic, and scientific domains in an interdisciplinary discussion and showcase of creative productions applying new technologies in electronic art, interactivity and digital media. The LabThe Lab's logo, designed by Colpa PressThe LabThe Lab (San Francisco)

From The Lab:

The Lab gives funding, time, and space to traditionally underrepresented artists and art forms. The organization intentionally focuses on supporting and amplifying the work of experimental artists who identify as African and African-American; Latinx; Asian and Asian-American; Arab and Arab-American; Indigenous American; Pacific Islander; lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer; differently-abled; and female. We seek to reach visionary artists whose economic and cultural realities have been ignored for too long, to the impoverishment of us all. The Lab is, above all, a catalyst for artistic experimentation. As a site of ongoing iteration and indeterminacy, it seeks to transform alongside artistic practices in order to engage meaningfully with diverse communities in San Francisco's Mission District and beyond.

We believe it is important to constantly question our own organizational model and to deeply engage with new artistic practices and modes of thinking around the arts. The Lab embodies the desires of creative, critical, and compassionate individuals. We want audiences to be inspired by the way we work, not just what we produce.

To that end, The Lab is W.A.G.E. Certified. W.A.G.E. Certification is a program initiated and operated by working artists that publicly recognizes nonprofit arts organizations demonstrating a commitment to voluntarily paying artist fees that meet a minimum standard.

From Wikipedia:

Lozano-Hemmer is best known for creating and presenting theatrical interactive installations in public spaces across Europe, Asia and America. Using robotics, real-time computer graphics, film projections, positional sound, internet links, cell phone interfaces, video and ultrasonic sensors, LED screens and other devices, his installations seek to interrupt the increasingly homogenized urban condition by providing critical platforms for participation. Lozano-Hemmer’s smaller-scaled sculptural and video installations explore themes of perception, deception and surveillance. As an outgrowth of these various large scale and performance-based projects Lozano-Hemmer documents the works in photography editions that are also exhibited.

TransmedialeTransmediale 2019 Logo

transmediale is a yearly Berlin-based festival and cultural organization that facilitates critical reflection on and interventions into processes of cultural transformation from a post-digital perspective. In the course of its more than 30 year history, the transmediale/festival has turned into an essential event in the calendar of media art professionals, artists, activists, and students from all over the world. [1]

Annually it presents an extensive range of exhibitions, conferences, screenings, performances, and publications to more than 25,000 visitors. In bringing together artists, researchers, activists, and thinkers, transmediale offers new perspectives and approaches on how the digital and a general technological condition has become a factor of influence in practically all spheres of life. The broad cultural appeal of the festival is recognized by the German federal government who supports the transmediale through its program for beacons of contemporary culture. [1]

Since 2011, transmediale’s all-year activities include cooperation projects, networking activities, the Vilém Flusser Residency for Artistic Research, and special events. These activities provide a sustainable structure of feedback, research, and reflection that interacts with the annual festival. As part of this endeavor, the transmediale journal launched in 2016, providing a platform for ongoing reflections, reactions, and discussions in many different forms. [1]
